Girl Next Door is the moniker of singer, songwriter and producer Sarah Carlton. With support from BBC Introducing, Spotify Editorials and a host of publications, she’s brought a refreshing and atmospheric angle to the way she crafts her sound. She’s played host to sell-out shows across London, her city of choice, and will once again be electrifying the stage at Next Door Records Two in honour of an EP launch.

That EP is Darling I Saw The Way You Looked At Me Tonight, a project that brings intricate, unique sonic frequencies and melodic prowess, even through the spoken word moments. It’s a sound like no other, and brings the listener on a journey of experimentation and emotion, swirling electronic sounds around your speakers and layering an introspective blanket on the experience. Rich production is paired with thoughtful songwriting, a duo that continues to separate Girl Next Door from the crowd.

Sarah explains, “‘Darling I Saw The Way You Looked At Me Tonight’ started as a phrase I kept coming back to when writing lyrics and later built the EP around. I found the transition from teenager to ‘adulthood’ a really confusing time and the EP explores that hazy hedonistic few years. The EP has been an outlet for me to delve into ideas around loss of innocence and childlike wonder, as societal expectations of us seem to change overnight. It touches on how we dive into relationships and romance without a rulebook, while craving connection and safety, as we’ve lost the people we grew up around.”
