Groove Moose shares genre-merging funk-rock single ‘The Source’

Georgia-hailing outfit Groove Moose started out as a simple jam session between two of its members. Slowly, they came into the local limelight, playing shows, expanding their lineup and building a loyal fan base. Releasing their debut EP in 2017, they’ve steadily dropped in with new releases since, showcasing an engaging and developing funky rock ‘n’ roll sound.

Groove Moose’s recently released single, ‘The Source’, is a compelling multi-genre blend that takes elements of classic rock and takes them into a thoughtful, complex arrangement with injections of soulfulness and blues.

The band showcase their skill with extended instrumental sections, within which instruments sway and cross, each one picking up the melody from the last and carrying it in a new, unseen direction. This almost jazz-like approach of delivering improvisation, solos, and fluctuating melodic density, packaged between an infectious hook, is refreshing to listen to and makes Groove Moose a humbling but welcoming listening experience.

“Sometimes you can take a path that isn’t the one you planned on taking,” the band says, explaining the single. “If you go with the flow and see things through, you never know what might happen. So long as being your authentic self is the source of your inspiration, you’re doing it right.”
