Heijmat is a solo project of multi-platinum mixing engineer Huub Reijnders, a man who has already seen vast praise for his work with the likes of Oscar and the Wolf and The Subs. The Heijmat project itself has seen widespread acclaim from tastemakers and sees the artist explore the boundaries and electronic music’s emotional impact, combining elements from ambient, techno and downtempo.
The latest step in this journey of a cinematic masterpiece is ‘Horizon’, the teaser single for the new EP Echoes of Solace. Its progressive nature means a calm start; the opening swell of synth melodies with subtle oscillations dictating the atmosphere for the plucky arpeggios as they enter.
It rises still, introducing natural sounds and a watery piano before the bass slashes the peacefulness into a cinematic drive. Filters are released and the fire is lit as drums are finally given room to punch out from the ground. This collaboration between Heijmat and LudoWic is truly something to behold.
Heijmat says the track is, “about finding clarity amidst chaos. It’s a journey of rediscovery, where the build-up mirrors the highs and lows we all face. I wanted it to feel like the calm after a storm—cinematic, yet deeply personal.”
