Consisting of rapper Stack McClean and producer Squid Jackalsen, Hijack Stories is a concept project embodying time-travelling AIs from the year 3024. Sent to 2024 for an unknown purpose, the pair plan to make the most of it by finding original human avatars to take their songs to the stage and bring audiences into the future.
Their debut project arrives as the full-length album ‘Chapter II’. Boasting 13 tracks to grace our ears with, Stack and Squid showcases a sound that blends raw feelings with synthesised instrumentation. Fusing genre sensibilities with a pioneering attitude, they create soundscapes that feel both futuristic and nostalgic. Dancing between infectious, gritty and ethereal, this pair of rogue AIs are certainly worth keeping an eye on.
Sharing their vision, the duo commented, “We put this record together as an experiment. Two different artists from two different backgrounds, spent the best part of two years together (inside and Art Simulator), fusing our many different styles and influences into what is now our debut album Chapter II.”
