Danish songwriter and producer HISSY aka Martin Grønne has toured sold-out concert halls around China with his band Virgin Suicide.
Now he makes his debut as a solo artist with the release of his full length album ‘drain the pool.’
The ambitious pop album album begins with mesmerizing synth melodies that blend into stirring vocals and catchy instrumental hooks from HISSY.
The album is thematically divided into four phases and tells the story of a journey with anxiety.
From the hyperventilating overthinking to the toxic presence of anxiety, from the deafening silence and pervasive emptiness, to the breakthrough revealing a way out of the downwards looping spiral.
‘BAD SEED’ is a radiant track that delivers vibrant and contemporary melodies and a soulful vocal performance.
‘SNAKE IN MY CHEST’ has more of an upbeat feel to it as HISSY delivers emotional lyrics alongside this synthy arrangement.
Track seven is another brilliant musical interlude that exist within the album and leads into the heartfelt and energetic ‘SILENIZIO.’
The last three tracks of the album alternate between gritty vibes, stirring soundscapes and sparkling vocals from HISSY.
