Honey Motel unveil immersive debut EP ‘The Manatee’

The Honey Motel experience is hosted by band members Matt Walker, Sam Meredith, Jack Hughes and Lew Fogg. The four-piece invites the audience on a narrative influenced by the likes of The Backseat Lovers and Declan McKenna, intricately crafted in a Mersey paradise.

Honey Motel has released their debut EP The Manatee, their journey since debut reaching its first major checkpoint, with glittering, unique indie sounds immersing listeners in five tracks of pure bliss.

Opening with the vibrant ‘Are You Coming With Me’, the title sequence runs, grooving licks and passionate storytelling setting the scene. ‘The Matinee’, their debut single, follows. With this single enjoying a bouncy euphoria, the team finds their stride and a sense of joy and they bound through stadium-filling tonality. ‘Punch Drunk’ is next to make its returns, the softer, but also darker sounds serving to show an alternative edge through gritty chords, before charging back towards the sun on ‘When We Die, We Die’. The newcomer to the project, ‘Coping Mechanism’, rounds out the EP, a momentous finisher, with all the beautiful energy channelled into effective emotion. With the listener fully immersed, the motel checks you out, sending you back into the world.

“If anybody tells you they know exactly what they are doing in this life, they are lying,” explains Sam, “Nobody knows the meaning of all this. Not a soul. If they claim they do, then they are deluded. As you get into your twenties all those who you think have it figured out really don’t, and those who seem really lost aren’t that lost at all. How can you know what you’re doing if you truly don’t know the point of it all? But at the same time, how can you be lost if you don’t know why you’re here? Just relax, some of the most interesting people I’ve met don’t know what they are meant to be doing in this life.”
