Having refined her musical abilities playing in various college bands, Lithuania born and Newcastle based Valerija Michailova is now releasing under her solo project Ecota. ‘What We Gonna Do’ marks her first EP offering, taking us into a world of dreamy indie-pop centered around shimmering guitars and catchy melodic lines. Creating a sound that is certain to get crowds grooving, Ecota is set for big things as soon as the live scene reopens.
Ecota has fallen into the bedroom pop genre as a result of lockdown boredom turning into mastering production skills. Channeling the title track’s message, Ecota says: “Everyday it’s the same and there’s nothing else to do, so what are we gonna do?” Her authentic lyricism has won her the ‘Demo of the Month’ award in Narc Magazine’s March issue, with more acclaim sure to come following the release of her indie gem ‘What We Gonna Do’.
