We sit down with the Irish artist Kevin Twomey on the week of the release of his new EP ‘Bloom Room’, which we love! Be sure to check it out at the bottom.
Tell us about yourself as an artist?
I’m a songwriter originally a Dubliner based in France over last decade, this is my first solo venture under my own name, but I’m also a member of the French band Bigger.
What got you into music ?
Kind grew up in a musical environment, my parents listened to records all the time and were always messing around on the guitar that was over in the corner, so it was quite a natural process.
But properly got into music around sixteen.
How would you describe your sound?
I’d say it’s a sort folk rock, with a dissonant twist to it.
What is your favourite venue to play?
Zénith de Paris played it a year ago over in France huge venue of six thousand!
Favorite venue in Dublin is Whelans, can’t wait until they book me there after this interview!
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
Kevin Morby absolutely love his style and lyrics, I’d say it would be and awesome process to work with him.
What is your creative process, and do you think it differs from others?
I’d say the thing that’s true to my creative process is the letting go of control part, and using the stuff that’s in the back of my mind it’s kind of self medication for me.
What is special about this song/album to you?
Everything
