Hailing from South London, the UK rap trio have long been at work formulating a fresh new sound, combining a hyper unique mixture of modern drill style instrumentation, mashed up with a laid back R&B delivery reminiscent of artists such as The Weeknd, to create a style of atmospheric, colourful and spacey UK rap which we’re yet to properly come across.
Speaking on their current progress Yems seems content, “We’ve had a good start to the year dropping 3 singles along with 2 visuals and after the first few releases we’re focused on staying consistent, dropping more and introducing the people to these VX sounds.”, this work rate has seen a continuous and organic rise in the UK underground. VX Mob have already proven to be a distinct force, with their single ‘Choppa’ amassing over 50,000 views on YouTube.
There are no rules and formula books for VX Mob, only a desire to create and form a connection between art and consumers. This is shown perfectly in their atmospheric and intoxicating new video ‘LMNOP’. The visual really compliments the music and shows VX’s creative direction, “We’re trying to showcase the dynamic of the music and translate the mood based on how we’re feeling in that moment, as well as the synergy between us as a group.”
Speaking on where VX Mob see their music taking them, he states “Our goal is to keep on growing as a unit and within ourselves as artists. We want to share what we been working on throughout our releases and allow people to join the movement. We’re just trying to take this global and expand”. This fresh new sound that VX Mob are creating by fusing together two sounds with each side of the pond has turned heads, it’s clear that they’re heavily influenced by a lot of different types of artists. “Our different backgrounds and cultures are our main inspirations as we all grew up listening to the different music around us. Taking from our South American and African heritages and merging it with our south London upbringing, which play a big part in our creative process.” Their open mindedness to this aspect of music has meant they’re always on the lookout for collars and new inspiration, they state “We’re open to working with anyone and anything original, recently we been cooking up with Kwengface, got some heat there, we’ve also been working with another one of our guys Danny Sanchez , and some other artists we can’t really mention at the moment. As well as our main producer MG, we’ve cooked up with TSB, Nyge, Parker Up & Moegli, so we got a lot archived dropping soon.”
If you want to catch VX Mob perform live, you can keep an eye on Discover Nü for their latest up and coming show, and with a project on the way, it’s clear that 2022 will be an exciting year for VX. “Keep streaming and supporting the music and stay posted for what we got coming“.
