Jack Hyphen showcases his developed style with ‘Not Medicinal’

Born from the split of Herefordshire four-piece Point Zero, Jack Hyphen now emerges from Manchester, receiving acclaim from tastemakers on the likes of Amazing Radio and XS Manchester and seeing support from fellow artists as he supports Crystal Tides, Jeremiah Ferrari, and James Walsh. His live qualities getting tastemakers excited, Jack has constantly built on his sound, going from acoustic songwriter back into the realm of quartet alternative in mid-2019.

With his latest single ‘Not Medicinal’, Jack takes the evolution of his sound back to his roots, the guitar-driven soundscape built on deep licks and soaring melodies, the subtle shimmer of the arrangements driven by distinctly alternative drumming and lightly melancholic vocals. Able to capture both moments of sheer powerhouse performance and moments of subtlety and beauty, Jack’s movement from section to section turns the just over three-minute runtime into a fabulously extended anthem, charging through with a sense of enjoyment in the performance that is richly palatable. The vocal harmonies are once again, a light addition, but make all the difference in its room-filling, singalong qualities.

Talking about the track, Jack explains: “I am going back to my Alternative Rock roots with this song, written over 5 years ago but revamped as my style has developed. The song encapsulates the feeling of vividly overthinking and I wrote this to remind myself that the illusions I create in my mind will fade away and are not a reflection of reality.”
