Hot on the heels of recent single ‘Ghosts’, Jay Moussa-Man now unveils ‘Tangled’, a love-drenched anthem that is laced with positivity despite the underlying uncertainty around her romantic experience. The pop atmosphere is decorated with a glimmering array of synth arrangements, supported by a flourishing guitar tone, the pulsating sound design as intense as the love Jay feels.
Vocally, Jay once again soars, breaking free from the shackles as she allows her words to burst into life, a firework brighter than the sun as it crackles in the sky. Her ability to deliver emotive ballads lends itself wonderfully to this high-energy atmosphere the pace, alongside harmonies and production twinkles unleashing a sound as joyous as a Mediterranean summer.
Jay shares the story behind the track, “I wanted to create a song that really captured Turkish summers for me. I spent my childhood there, so it never felt like I was ‘going on holiday’ when summer arrived. It was part of my life, the burning sands, the cicadas, the people. It was who I was.
I’ve never been super confident on guitar, especially electric but I saw this as a challenge and so I kept playing around with Guitar Rig 6 and my Squier Stratocaster until I had these very simple riffs layered up and suddenly, it sounded like what I was hearing in my head. It sounded like the Mediterranean.”
