Jei-Rynn releases cathartic single ‘maybe?’

California-based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Jei-Rynn is transporting listeners back to a time when grunge and pop punk ruled the roost of guitar music. For the artist, music has become a form of therapy and self-expression, learning to channel his struggles with anxiety and depression into a creative exploration.

Debuting in 2019, he’s risen to critical acclaim, working with a range of producers and climbing up the charts. Sharing stages with Lil Xan, Tommy Vext and Love Ghost, Jei-Rynn continues to cement his position as a next-up on the scene.

In his first release of 2025, ‘maybe?’, Jei-Rynn brings a gritty, intensifying and raw catharsis. It starts out with a strict and tight acoustic pluck, with a slightly dark harmony already emerging. The initial vocals follow suit, with an introspective, bittersweet feeling in their tone, before breaking. out into a powerful and assertive performance.

That’s all before the first chorus, which in itself turns the track into a real stadium filler with massive distorted chords, screaming lead tones, driving drums and an infectious top line. It’s an absolute riot at its core, and sometimes, that is exactly what you need.

Jei-Rynn had this to say about the track, “I wrote ‘maybe?’ upon feeling the weight of my own mortality, as well as all the fun existential questions that come with that. In this song, I was delving into the absurdity of life, and the absurdity of people and their inability to extract themselves from their own idioms. It’s a song about ego, and about being suffocated by other people’s egos as well. The song was recorded with producer Alex Newport (Mars Volta, Bloc Party, At the Drive In) at his studio in the deserts of Yucca Valley.”
