Jeremy Climer Unveils “Paper Gowns” – A Haunting Reflection on Life’s Final Moments

Jeremy Climer, the creative mind behind Mountain Climer, is set to release his latest single, Paper Gowns, on February 28th. Produced by the renowned Paul Mahern—whose credits include work with John Mellencamp and The Blake Babies—the track is a poignant meditation on mortality, regret, and the fleeting nature of time. Featuring a stellar lineup of musicians, including Heidi Lynne Gluck, Shannon Hayden, Devon Ashley, and David England, Paper Gowns delivers an emotionally charged soundscape infused with raw intensity and atmospheric depth.

A Song of Reflection and Urgency

Initially envisioned as a slow ballad, Paper Gowns evolved under Mahern’s direction into a more urgent and driving composition. “Shannon’s guitar work is like a little bit of sugar to help the medicine go down,” Climer notes, highlighting the delicate balance between the song’s dark themes and its stirring instrumentation. The track’s accelerated tempo underscores its themes of impermanence, creating a striking juxtaposition between sonic energy and lyrical depth.

The recording process for Paper Gowns was both spontaneous and collaborative. Climer entered the studio armed with only voice memo demos, placing his trust in Mahern and his hand-picked group of musicians to bring the songs to life in real time. “We played like we had been a band for ten years,” Climer recalls. “To borrow Paul’s word, it was magical.”

Crowdfunding Before You Turn Out the Lights

Beyond the release of Paper Gowns, Climer is embarking on a larger musical endeavor—his upcoming full-length album, Before You Turn Out the Lights. To support the project, he has launched a crowdfunding campaign on GiveSendGo, offering fans the opportunity to contribute to the recording, production, and distribution of the album.
