Joe Ramsey returns with full-throttle single ‘Caught In’

Filling the North-East air with indie riffage and singalong chorus lines, Joe Ramsey is back with his second single from the upcoming EP ‘Making Notes’. Building on his success with the EPs first offering ‘Another Day’, ‘Caught In’ is a turbo-charged anthem that throws back to feeling stuck inside the hiatus of lockdown. The single projects a somber narrative of feeling “static” with “nowhere to go” whilst retaining an uplifting feel-good factor which makes the record far from a hard-stop.

Talking about the new track, Joe Ramsey reveals: “‘Caught In’ is the second single taken from my debut EP ‘Making Notes’ and follows suit from lead single ‘Another Day’. The song is about the feeling of being swallowed up by the world in the midst of the pandemic, not knowing which way to turn or how to act day to day. A positive-sounding and upbeat track with contrastingly sad lyricism, I tried to encapsulate the feeling of the whole nation in this unprecedented time. Like you’re static and there’s nowhere to go, and being caught in the middle of it all.”

Middlesbrough born singer-songwriter Joe Ramsey equips himself with a timeless approach to music and the genres you can go between when writing, disinterested in the trends that surround him on the day to day. With a string of releases to date garnering support from the likes of Clash, Earmilk, 1883 and Atwood Magazine, Joe has certainly caught the attention of many.

His upcoming EP ‘Making Notes’ was birthed out of Help Musicians funding and collaborations with musicians over lockdown including strings from Danny Addison, drums via Adam Gammage (Tom Grennan, Charlie XCX) as well as production from James Kenosha (Gavin James, Rhodes, Zoey Lily) and Nicholas Alexander. The record, which is set for release later this year, is set to be Joe’s most triumphant work yet.
