Born and raised in Prague, Johnny Majestic’s initial talent in music was in classical piano, his penchant for 80s glam and artists like KISS, Mötley Crüe, and David Bowie coming in later years. As he built his multi-instrumental abilities with guitar and bass this passion deepened. Now based in Los Angeles, Majestic brings avant-garde artistry and a unique perspective, reviving the underappreciated genre he fell in love with. His current work lies in preparing a six-track EP, he adds, “I’ve been focusing on singles since I started this project, but I started to feel like just releasing singles is too slow of a process.”
Johnny’s track ‘EVERYBODY LIKES ME’ is filled with hyperactive glam rock with a slightly gritty edge. With roaring riffs, bright vocal harmonies, and pounding drums, with added layers of electronic shimmer, the track comes together to burst through the speakers.
Johnny explains, “I wrote and recorded the demo for “Everybody Likes Me!” after a night of just acting like an absolute buffoon. I tried getting into a fight at a friend’s party (in a very drunken and awkward way)- and it was also at a time when I just went through a breakup and had a very f**k it approach to basically everything- which is basically what I’m singing about in the song. Specific instances of that, being a drunk high mess that’s getting into fights and breaking people’s hearts. I felt like a pink humanoid cat was a good representative of all those feelings.”
The music video is vibrant and energetic, embracing the chaotic nature of ‘EVERYBODY LIKES ME’, the aforementioned pink humanoid cat making an appearance off the bat. What follows are constantly switching scenes that showcase a high energy, playful attitude, and the slightly mad nature of declaring how popular you are around a spree of other people lent into Johnny’s delivery. A glam-rock vision in full effect, it’s colourful and attention-grabbing.
