KEiiNO cover A-HA’s classic hit ‘The Sun Always Shines on TV’

KEiiNO - The Sun Always Shines on TV

There’s no doubt that trance is having a bit of a moment right now. It seems we’re all desperate for some uplifting, high energy beats, and KEiiNO have heard the call with their latest release. The Norwegian powerhouse trio have covered A-HA’s classic, ‘The Sun Always Shines on TV’, ramping it up to a 90s inspired trance-pop banger of epic proportions.

‘The Sun Always Shines On TV’ is an important part of Norwegian pop history, being the first song by a Norwegian artist to reach #1 in the UK charts in 1986. Being huge fans of A-HA, KEiiNO have treated the song with the respect it deserves, but they’ve held nothing back when adding their signature pop energy, bringing up the BPM and taking their cue from late 90s trance and pop as well as the original mid-80s vibe.

Tom Hugo of the band says: “For many years, A-Ha didn’t get the recognition for the amazing songwriters they are, but ‘The Sun Always Shines On TV’ is a massive song with so many layers. Hearing A-Ha for the first time made me realise that this was the path I wanted to follow, and although we’ve made our version a bit more focused on a few elements rather than the symphonic original, we hope we can recruit a few new fans for the pop-titans as well. At least I think we can make people burn a few extra calories on the dancefloor or at the gym with our energetic dance pop-version”.

Since KEiiNO debuted in 2019 at Eurovision, where they were awarded 12 points from the UK audience. 25 songs and 150 million streams later they recently returned to London for two shows – the first one being a headline show at iconic LGBTQ venue HEAVEN, the latter at Here at Outernet for the London Eurovision Party. Later this month, the trio will return to the UK for more shows, one being a part of Euroclub in Liverpool on May 7th, Eurovision week.
