Leeds-based band King No-One was started by childhood friends Zach Lount (vocals) and Joe Martin (guitar), with the pair slow gathering James Basile (drums) and Rob Gration (bass) to join their crew of philosophical writers. Since 2015 the band have grown a strong following and plenty of attention for their pop-rock, stadium filling sound. They are known as memorable touring artists but also for their ferocious songwriting ability.
Rocketing into your ear-drums with an energy like no other, King No-One are back with their new single ‘I Feel Strange’. Heavy hitting drums, distorted guitars and a gritty attitude in the vocals make the track nothing less than addictive. The strict contrasts between the aggressive instrumentation and the occasional acoustic guitar along with the more hopeful choruses perfectly showcase the overwhelm of the world that we live in. It’s sporadic and eclectic but still manages to keep a cohesive message and feel, a real strong single from the band.
Lead singer Zach shares, “I Feel Strange was written whilst I was at a real crossroad, when I took an abstract view on life – Like why we pay £x a month to live in a concrete cage in a city centre full of others in tiny spaces, or being mugged on your doorstep, or all of a sudden massive corporations have LGBTQ+ branding for a week a year, or oil allowing neoliberalism to construct our society whilst being the death of the natural world… or the fact Neville from Harry Potter became insanely handsome.
Then I just had to think, well – this is the world, this is humanity and I’m here now. I’ll stick around.”
