kleio deliver abundant new single ‘mercury’

Alongside announcing their first headline show at iconic Dublin venue Whelans this October, kleio has released a fresh new single in ‘mercury’. The band have truly burst onto the scene, selling out shows, performing across their Ireland home and in the UK, supporting the likes of Post-Party. All the while, the band have released a string of singles, grabbing the attention of tastemakers for their bouncy melancholic alternative delivery.

‘mercury’ itself sees a further evolution, the band capturing more of that indie glitter and sharking it out over their trademark electrifying nostalgia. With rose-tinted lead melodies landing on an abundance of drum rhythms and driven riffs, the vocals have plenty of room to dive into themes of young love, balancing intrigue and infectiousness with catchy hooks and astute phrases. Anthem after anthem in the making, kleio are a breath of fresh air.

kleio’s frontman Luke shares, “Mercury was such a fun song to write, I wrote the lyrics on the back of receipts while I was working in a shop and I’d go home every day filled with ideas on how the song should go. It ended up coming together fairly quickly once I took it to Alex, which was a nice change. When we played it live for the first time I remember our friends, who’d been watching us for a while, being blown away by it, the song felt like we had taken a step up in our quality and I’m so excited for people to hear it.”
