Nairobi-born and now London-based, Komanii’s view of the world has shown to be uncompromising. After living all over the world, his music stands against injustice and has constantly improved thanks to collaborations with Ayon Mukherji and Elrim.
His latest single ‘254’, is a confidence-drenched, distinctly Komanii production. Opening with a twinkling sample and soulful vocal, Komanii introduces a blend of rhythmic percussion and bouncy drill drums.
His style is effortless and light, hitting home to important topics without leaning into an easy darkness and aggression. Continually switching up his pace and leaning into the beat, Komanii proves his chops once again, with sleek production and an even smoother performance.
Komanii speaks to the blend of cultures that informs his art, “I wrote and produced this record looking to delve further into the UK hip hop scene drawing inspiration from present-day leaders like Dave, Stormzy, and Central Cee, whilst still making commentary on my Kenyan roots”
