Lauren Presley shows a slice of fury in new track ‘People Leave’

Born in Redwater, Texas, but finding her way to Nashville to secure her rising star status, Lauren Presley is amassing dark pop prowess from across the industry harnessing the alternative sounds at her disposal for a fierce and unique style. She’s been championed across the tastemaker landscape, finding her way into the music press and playlist editorials, including a cover spot on Spotify’s Fresh Finds: Pop. Lauren has done all she needs to for the rising star tag.

Lauren brings together every electrified atom of her sound for a climactic, empowering but deeply vulnerable slice of speaker-bursting dynamism. The track, ‘People Leave’, starts out with a soft guitar line and swelling bass tone, the rattly hi-hats underlying multiple potential avenues for sonic direction. As the vocals grow into the first chorus, you feel the selection, viscerally.

Hearts are shattered as distorted guitars take hold, the vocals crying out in an emotional outburst. The track’s thematic focus on past pain coming back to haunt you is evident in the texture itself, going from reserved, but uncertain introspection to gritty brutal passion.

Lauren dives into these themes, sharing, “We wrote this song about having past trauma from people walking out of your life, especially at a young age. And how as an adult that fear of abandonment still sticks with you, and comes out in your relationships even the healthy ones. It’s like it’s engraved in you and you can’t help it, but you try your best to trust again.”
