Debuting with a distinct style earlier this year LAY / BYE have already seen early tastemaker support alongside their reputation for energised live appearances. They’ve shared the stage with Alfie Templeman, The Vamps, Sophie Ellis Bextor, and Rag’n’Bone Man and continue to excite with their recorded music.
Their latest track ‘Love Songs Are Boring <3’, provides a place for new fans to latch onto. Where early tracks covered a clear rock root, the whimsical vibrance aligns more with indie pop. Almost a call out to the genre they recreate, they’ve nailed the overall catchy sounds whilst nodding at a satirical nature. Plucky synths, grooving bass lines and bright guitar riffs are all staples beneath the vocal shine.
The band dive into the track, “Love Songs Are Boring <3 is a departure from our usual raucous riffs, diving deep into the introspective world of pop music. The song touches on the idea of loving someone you shouldn’t through clever lyrical references and subtle cues from our awe-inspiring instrumentals. It’s a reflection on the cliché love stories we hear in popular film and literature, composed into a piece of art that resonates with our listeners.”
