Sonically sound duo Laya Laya have forged a compelling new single, coming in the shape of ‘I Can Feel You’. With Freya Zai’s glowing vocal melodies and the Super Joshi’s clever production, the release betters the pairings debut singles ‘Vampire’ and ‘Gravity, with hooks that appear more refined and clear cut. Clever synth lines counter ear-worm melodies which makes for a record that flirts between niche and commercial.
Discussing the release, Freya says:
“It was written about a break up of a relationship and the feeling that you remain connected to that person even though they are not in your life anymore.”
Laya Laya’s music is the product of the pair coming together through illness back in 2017. With Freya nearly dying from Sepsis and Josh losing his voice entirely, the pair underwent months of recovery and therapy to overcome their physical and mental traumas, further propelled via a love for music. With both leaving their day jobs behind, music has come to the fore – and it definitely shows.
