London based Lo Lauren enters the stage with her poised and elegant slow-banger ‘Just friends’.
While the song covers familiar ground in terms of subject matter, the songwriting and production are what set Lo apart from a lot of new releases right now. It’s stripped back, slow-burn neo-pop at its finest. Further breaking the mold, Lo has produced a spoken-word monologue which gives us a glimpse into her world.
Watch the monologue below:
Speaking about ‘Just Friends’, Lo said: “It’s very stripped back, and it allows me space to grow, both vocally and in production” Lo explains. With the opening line ‘We thought we could be friends, who thought that fucking was friendly?’ Lo sets out her agenda immediately, tackling the age old ‘are we just friends?’ question; “It’s a pretty clear concept – it’s very literal” she says.
With room to grow and a first taste as strong as ‘Just Friends’, we’re looking forward to hearing more from Lo Lauren in the future. Press play on her debut single below.
