Loyle Carner confronts personal dilemmas in latest single ‘The Isle Of Arran’

‘The Isle Of Arran’ is lifted from Loyle Carner’s debut album ‘Yesterday’s Gone’, set to release 20th January 2017. The track, which premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show, offers insight into Carner’s mind as he discusses the idea of life, death and religion. Named after the island that Carner’s Grandfather lived on, it’s clear the young rapper has no issues with sharing his emotions.

Carner considers the idea of God through his raw poetry above an ironic gospel backing; the thought-provoking lyrics unfold with a flow and passion that’s unrivalled. The emotive hip-hop piece was released alongside a brilliant music video, which celebrates Fatherhood.

Loyle says about the video: “A lot of my boys haven’t had the best relationships with their pops, but it’s getting to the point where some of them are becoming fathers themselves. With this video, I just wanted to celebrate the ones who are doing right and sticking around, because slowly they’re shedding the stereotype.”

If Carner’s releases of ‘No CD’, ‘Tierney Terrace’, ‘Florence’ and now ‘The Isle Of Arran’ are anything to go by, ‘Yesterday’s Gone’ is going to be an album to look out for.
