Lucky Iris share dazzling single ‘i guess i like you (a lot)’

Making huge waves across radio and music press, even making a national TV debut on Sky News, Lucky Iris continues to share singles from their upcoming EP Something To Believe In. Based in Leeds, the pair has supported a slew of fellow rising stars and appeared on high-profile festival stages. Building a reputation amongst music obsessives, it seems like only a matter of time before they exponentially burst into the mainstream.

Lucky Iris’ latest single is the dazzling ‘i guess i like you (a lot)’, immediately appearing with shining, nostalgic 2000s synth designs and quirky production. The tight, 16th grooves of the hi-hats give the track slight break-beat momentum, whereas the synth-heavy instrumentation goes from bright and breezy to punchy, aggressive hyperpop.

Maeve, lead vocalist, adds “My girlhood crushes were distinctively differentiated from friendships on the grounds of whether I liked them, or if I like liked them. BIG difference. HUGE! It’s that sickly sweet daydream like fantasy. That slightly delirious feeling of the joy of what could be.

Have you ever felt so in crush with someone, that seeing them can completely de-rail your day? But in a good way! It’s so all-consuming that everything that was feeling difficult and heavy suddenly feels lighter and brighter. Because if I like like you, I’m going to tell you! And then everyone else! But who cares when you’re in crush!”

Effortlessly high-energy, there’s a distinctive sound to something so intense and pulsating, where the lead vocal seems at will to be pulled around by the instrumentation with a joyful naivety. Lucky Iris continues to feel so unique with each of their releases, finding themselves championing on the cusp of new sounds.
