Mew Suppasit x SUHO present ‘Turn off the Alarm’

Mew Suppasit

Balancing just the right amount of rock weight and pop sheen, ‘Turn Off The Alarm‘ by Mew Suppasit x SUHO walks a fine but sure-footed line between the two genres. And does so brilliantly.

The video, a riot of Day-Glo colours and slick and dream-like sheens, certainly reinforces the pop edge but the fact that where you would expect to find the usual go-to pop instrumentation – clinical, programmed drumming, sampled synths and all manner of studio gimmickry. Instead, you find the sound of a band doing what bands always used to do – providing authentic melodies, serious beats and weighty guitar.

And rather than push the overall sound into rock territory, there is a deftness to the playing and the songwriting that directs those energies into pure pop. The production is slick, the delivery excellent, and the dynamic ebbs and flows engaging.

Is it pop? Yes, without a doubt. Is it highly polished? Undoubtedly. Does it outshine most pop found on the market today? Is it sweet but not overly saccharine? Is it pop taken to new heights? Yes, it is all that and more. Much more.
