Motorcycle Display Team unveils captivating new single ‘Not Raving, But Frowning’

Motorcycle Display Team (MDT) has returned with the poignant finale to their two-track single ‘Heartbeaten,’ releasing ‘Not Raving, But Frowning’ on July 12th. This highly anticipated track follows the earlier release of ‘To The Endless,’ which marked their first new music since 2022’s ‘Wereman.’ ‘Not Raving, But Frowning’ begins with swirling vocals and guitar, evoking a fairground waltzer that crescendos to reflect the protagonist’s disoriented state. The song’s melodically beguiling rhythm and mournful strings create an immersive experience that resonates with the introspective themes of grace and humility.

Stevoknievo, the band’s vocalist and guitarist, provides insight into the track’s deep, personal narrative. “The song is a portrait of the self-indulgent fool I recognise in myself. Where all play every day makes Jack a burned-out husk. A romantic cliche never accepting when the party’s over. A meaningless existence, piecing together hazy recollections of nights before. But even so it’s not hopeless – there’s always the glimmer of a chance at redemption.”

MDT, consisting of Morgan Condon (drums), Brad Larroquette (bass), and Stevoknievo, has expanded their sound with strings, piano, and flute, enriching their already dynamic performances. Over the years, MDT has toured extensively across the UK and Europe, earning accolades such as ‘Artist of the Month’ on We7 and ‘Unsigned Band of the Month’ from Absolute Radio. Their music has been featured on popular TV shows including ‘Hollyoaks’ and BBC’s ‘Off the Hook.’ Recorded at Lightship 95, ‘Heartbeat’ showcases MDT’s evolution and artistic depth. With ‘Not Raving, But Frowning,’ MDT continues to captivate listeners, solidifying their place in the music scene.
