Mark Rae has had a highly successful career in both music and literature, producing and remixing for over one hundred artists, including many household names.
With his latest project, Mark brings together over forty world-class musicians and producers to chronicle his childhood as New Town Ghosts. The project covers both a novel, and an album, and has already been growing an interesting buzz.
Mark shares, “This project represents a high-water mark in my creative output. I wanted to explore themes of childhood friendship, our relationship with nature, and the spirit world. Set during the summer of 1976 in a Northumbrian new town, the story reflects the innocence and wonder of growing up during a unique time in history, intertwined with the emotional resonance of the music.”
In the final teaser for the project, Mark unveils ‘The Conker Boys’, opening with expertly crafted layers of guitar delay. The grooves create a firm forward momentum. The vocals are storytelling-driven but have a pop infectiousness and plenty of interesting harmonies.
The resonant nostalgia is at the core of this new track, and with the album just around the corner, it may be the perfect final teaser. Bringing everything lush, fantastical and authentic about Mark’s writing into one infectious package.
