South London artist Oscar Jerome has shared his new single, ‘Smile On A Screen’.
‘Smile On A Screen‘ features the percussion of Moses Boyd (Binker & Moses) and spoken word poetry of South London poet, James Massiah. The track itself is a jazzy whirlwind of percussion, flute, cello and bluesy guitar melodies. Fast paced drums keep the pulse beating strong whilst Oscar’s brooding vocals create a smokey atmospheric touch. Listen to the track below.
‘Smile On A Screen’ follows the Londoner’s November track, ‘Subdued‘, which will also appear on his forthcoming Where Are Your Branches? EP.
Speaking about ‘Smile On A Screen’, which initially proved hard to pin down in the studio, Oscar says; “This tune has grown through being played live,” he recalls, “it took a while to find its identity when recorded but with a mash-up of mine, Maxwell Owin and Wu-Lu’s production skills it finally found a life of its own.”
Where Are Your Branches? is set for release on 26th January following a number of shows in both New York and London. See the dates below.
