Panoram Shares Hypnotic New Single ‘What It Means’

Synth virtuoso Panoram is back with his latest musical experiment, ‘What It Means’, out now on Running Back. Known for blending IDM, library music, and classical minimalism into his unmistakable style, the Roman producer offers another captivating journey into his whimsical, otherworldly soundscapes.

‘What It Means’ is a mesmerizing, slow-burning exploration of sound. Its playful yet brooding arpeggios float atop shuffling beats, while detached vocal samples whisper an eerie refrain: “On the other hand, I don’t always understand what it means.” Equal parts cerebral and whimsical, the track masterfully balances the playful with the introspective.

Panoram’s unique approach has earned him a loyal following in the IDM community, with endorsements from Pitchfork, The Vinyl Factory, and even Thom Yorke, who featured Panoram in a curated playlist. With past performances at Sónar Festival, Primavera Sound, and Roskilde, he’s cemented his status as a genre-defying innovator.

Speaking on the track, Panoram revealed: “It’s quite trippy and demented. The bass synth’s uncertain vibe set the tone, while the vocals bring a cognitive dissonance, as if sounds and words are coming from separate worlds.”

Fans of Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, and Vangelis will find much to admire in Panoram’s synth-laden labyrinth. ‘What It Means’ continues his tradition of creating music that resists categorization while inviting deep listening.
