Release Date: February 5th 2025
With a career that spans two decades and a heart firmly rooted in both England and Italy, Peter Dulborough is set to release his deeply personal new album, ‘Touch‘, on February 5th, 2025. A stunning collection of 8 tracks, ‘Touch’ serves as a concept album that explores the landscapes of memory, nostalgia, and the profound connections we form with the people and places that shape us. Written over the span of a decade, ‘Touch’ was re-recorded in the summer of 2024 at Mad Jaguars Studio in Florence, Italy, with the invaluable collaboration of producer Mat Grey. This is an album that not only reflects Dulborough’s life-long love for music but also touches on themes of loss, hope, and the healing power of music itself. A tribute to his home in Reading, England, and inspired by his deep admiration for his musical hero, Nick Drake, the album marks a powerful shift in Dulborough’s sound, taking a more introspective, emotive turn while still retaining his signature melodic richness.
“The idea for this album came from a song I wrote called ‘A Golden Thread,’” says Dulborough. “It was a tribute to Nick Drake and the feeling of being far from home. After living in Italy for over 25 years, I found myself missing the English countryside, the quiet spaces where I could just breathe and reflect. ‘Touch’ is about those memories, people, places, moments, that give us strength even after they’re gone.”
The title track, ‘Touch’, was originally conceived as a simple piano ballad but has been transformed into a powerful anthem of hope and resilience. Thanks to Mat Grey’s intricate arrangement, it now features uplifting brass, stirring percussion, and a soaring emotional intensity that elevates the song into something truly transcendent. In addition to ‘Touch’, the album features a beautifully crafted song cycle that paints vivid portraits of the people and places Dulborough cherishes most. The album is not only a journey through Dulborough’s personal history, but also an invitation for listeners to reflect on their own connections to home, family, and the transformative power of art. Dulborough says “Special mention goes to singer-songwriter Martina Magionami (‘La Marti), a long-term collaborator. Her smooth, lyrical guitar work and beautiful vocals on ‘Leave the Shadows’ are a highlight. Another notable contribution comes from Sam Cangi from Blue Moon Studios whose touching trumpet solo on ‘John’s Colours’ is rich, subtle and moving.”
The album’s artwork, designed by the talented Chiara Pirovano, features a symbolic weeping willow on the Thames, evoking memories of past lives and lost moments. A nod to the cover of Nick Drake’s Pink Moon, it connects Dulborough’s personal narrative with the spirit of his musical influences. For the single cover of ‘Touch’, Pirovano captured the warmth and simplicity of Dulborough’s family home, reflecting the deep emotional core of the song.
Peter Dulborough, a composer and songwriter, known for his emotive piano-driven compositions, his songwriting is rooted in deep emotional honesty, with lyrics that reflect the complexities of the human experience. ‘Touch’ follows his previous musical works, including the album “The Music of the Stars” (2024), a musical inspired by The Little Prince, and the EP ‘The Fixer’ (2022).
