Today MALORY shares with the world her debut EP, Dystopia.
Dystopia is an expressive journey comprising four stand out tracks, all with their own unique vibrations. The two new unheard cuts, ‘Cold Vibrations‘ and ‘Real Love‘ follow the previously released songs ‘Rapture‘ and ‘Nuclear Brandy‘ and conclude the multicoloured artist’s excellent debut offering.
‘Cold Vibrations‘, the EP’s piano-led penultimate groove, is an energetic pop-gem packed with intricate percussion and hypnotising vocal harmonies. The song’s vibrant urgency is separated neatly by a number of dreamy breakdowns, providing the perfect balance from start to finish. Dystopia‘s farewell track, ‘Real Love‘ takes things down a notch stripping things back to raw emotional feels. Gentle keys play MALORY out as she sweetly questions whether “this is even real love?” Listen below.
Speaking about the new record, the London artist explains: “A dose of millennial angst and end of the world fears make up Dystopia. Oddly enough, I named the EP over a year ago but it seems a scarily fitting title for the current time we live in! I wanted each song to have its own juxtapositions either lyrically or in the playful instrumentation. Every track I imagine as one shade in my ever extending musical rainbow, combining colours dark and light. Of course, inescapably centring on my own experiences of unrequited love, hopeful romance and the possibilities of new relationships. It has been two years in the making but I am so proud of it and excited to share it with the world!”
Dystopia, which was co-produced by MALORY, Danny George and studio wizard Jamie Evans, is out now in its entirety. An EP launch party is set to take place today (5th April) at Hoxton Square. Tickets are available via Dice.
