Rhett Repko unleashes the vintage-tinged ‘Somewhat Famous’

Rhett Repko is back with a new single, ‘Somewhat Famous’, an excitable and electrifying new single, balancing nostalgic charm and modern energy. Momentum in 2025 is already building, off the back of late 2024’s ‘How Cold’ and this year’s opener ‘Every Night’, with Rhett adding a playful groove into the rough-edged nature of today’s indie scene.

Recorded in Santa Monica, it glows with dynamic polish, as brassy synths and lucid grooves subtly nod to 80s new-wave, while punchy guitar lines and restless beats inject a shot of contemporary flair and adrenaline. Experimenting with vintage gear from the Juno 106, Prophet 6 and legendary Neumann U67 microphone, he injects that old-school sound.

“I wanted a swampy kind of old-school blues sound – something that I imagine gangsters in the 1920s would listen to in a speakeasy bar – the kinda song that makes you feel cool as you listen to it. We recorded the song at Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica over two full days so we tried to use everything we could get our hands on. I got the legendary producer Mark Needham (Killers, Imagine Dragons) to do the final mix of the song and bring all of those elements to life and the edge of the speaker.  He always has a way of taking something that I think is already perfect and making it even better.”

With features across MTV, Netflix and TLC already calling audiences toward his music, Rhett Repko’s evolution shows no signs of slowing down. Appreciating the past, whilst creating fully-charged anthems for the present, is quickly turning him into a rising force.
