Ruben Dumars returns with new single ‘Hurt Hearts’

‘Hurt Hearts’ is the latest single from Cincinnati-based artist-producer Ruben Dumars, which showcases Gorillaz-style bass licks, glowing synth-strings, and rapper YNRR SIXX flexing over the 90s-throwback breakbeat. The single lends from Madlib, Eyedress and Unknown Mortal Orchestra and showcases Ruben’s ability to blend genres.

Discussing the release, Ruben explains:

I met the rapper YNRR SIXX around a year ago in Kentucky, I hung out with him and his crew at the studio once and loved the way he worked. I had been looking for a rapper for about 5 or 6 years at that point, and I was almost about to give up trying yet I was elated once I realized we had just put together one of the toughest rap songs I’ve ever heard. It’s absolute sonic carnage with a touch of witchcraft.”

Born in California and raised in Utah, Ruben’s discography stretches back to 2023 with Enter The Void before dropping another six singles in 2024. ‘Hurt Hearts’ follows ‘Coup de Grace’, which was released in January of this year, and Ruben has gone on to conquer an array of listeners worldwide.
