Sam Handy – Done

By Jonathan Currinn

Sam Handy brings a neo-soul influenced track to the table with the recently-released “Done”. Focusing on pushing through and away from toxic relationships and wrapping the sentimentality around funky grooves styled in a pop-esque rhythm.

His smooth vocals shine brightly as he delves deep and dark with his lyricism hitting back at an ex who fuelled their relationship with negativity and toxicity – clearly, they didn’t deserve him, that’s for sure. Sam brings positivity like no other, sharing his confidence and strength with his listeners making us all believe that we’re all better off without toxic people in our lives.

It’s a warped concept as the lyrics hit hard towards an ex and really packs a punch, yet his soft voice and upbeat track propel positive energy to us all, really showcasing his unique musical talent and awe-inspiring ability to emotionally invigorate his listeners.

Talking about the song, Sam Handy said, “‘Done’ is a resounding middle finger to toxic relationships. It’s a song about moving on and towards resilience. I took inspiration from the neo-soul genre for this one. Artists like D’Angelo have inspired a lot of my melodies and vocal harmonies. I love the laid-back tones mixed with that serious attitude; that ‘back off’ message without a lot of the hostility.”
