Cork-based singer songwriter Sarah Hickey has recently re-emerged after taking time to hone in on a signature sound that aims to captivate listeners. Sarah has performed in venues across Ireland, both as a solo artist and backing singer for her fellow musicians. Recent singles ‘Doesn’t Fit’ and ‘Out Of The Night’ have both seen press acclaim, keeping fans in anticipation for her next release.
Sarah Hickey’s latest offering is ‘Take A Minute’, embracing her folk influences for a gentle track that slowly brings in more instrumentation, each steadily becoming more expressive. Opening with a soft vocal performance over an acoustic guitar line, Sarah builds up the music around us, with reserved drums and dreamy electric guitar melodies. As the sounds grow around her, she adds angelic harmonies to the main vocal line. What results is a lush forest of music, with each new addition coming into the clearing, called forward by Sarah’s vocals.
Sarah adds, “My newest single is about taking time to be still while feeling overwhelmed and feeling like you’ve fallen behind.”
