A gloomy post-punk ethos takes shape as Sarantos explores new lands with “I’m a Bitch”. Nods to Joy Division appear throughout. The groove goes for a driving propulsive stance for he holds nothing back. With the rest of the band coming in swinging, his verses do get evaluated quite considerably. Much of the song breaks from Sarantos’ typical storytelling, as this one seems to capture a specific attitude, a moment in time that is outright joyous in its own way. Riffs race on through further adding to the tension that exists deep within the song’s very DNA.
Glowing synthesizers take hold for the first few moments of the track. Upon the dropping of that bass everything races forward into the sound. The drums have a nimble snappiness to them for they make sure that it all has a chaotic quality to it. By making sure that the verses power on through everything within it has a tenderness, for his voice is unwavering. With the bass nicely worming through the whole of the work it has an intensity to it. Lots of the work makes sure to never let up, as the piece draws from an entire life lived to the fullest, to get up to this moment. Interplay amongst the band further adds to this darkened ethos of the track.
“I’m a Bitch” revels in a delicate touch, as Sarantos conveys so much within the song itself, from the genre-referencing aspect to his rather powerful lyricism.
