Scottish group The Owls unleash their powerful new double single ‘Two Tone Summer’ and ‘Skandal’

OUT NOW – Listen Here

Scottish newcomers, The Owls, break cover with this double sided slice of irresistible 21st Century Ska Pop. ‘Two Tone Summer‘ is an unforgettable love letter to the iconic 2-Tone movement of the late 70s and 80s, with an underlying lament at the parallels of racism, inequality, misery and social isolation which are as prevalent today as they were during the birth of the original 2-Tone movement. The flip side, ‘Skandal‘, is an acerbic Pop gem with timeless melodies and a lyric poking fun at the transparent strategy of misinformation and half truth disseminated by Politicians, TV and Media to promote division and protect the establishment status quo, no matter how corrupt, and no matter how many scandals are eventually uncovered. Nostalgic, sardonic and everything in between, ‘Two Tone Summer’ is your ticket to a one of a kind listening experience this Autumn.

The Owls hatched three years ago in Perth, Scotland, when four musicians from diverse musical backgrounds united over a shared passion for ska and reggae. Initially performing small local shows, they quickly gained momentum and expanded their fanbase with electrifying live performances at prominent events like the Glasgow Merchant City Festival, The Edinburgh Fringe, Rewind Festival, and Blam Blam Fever Festival. They also host sold-out annual events in Perth, such as the Skalloween all-day event.

Having supported legendary acts like The Beat, Bad Manners, and Specials guitarist Roddy Radiation, The Owls have earned an enviable reputation. Their TV debut came in 2024 on a popular Channel 4 reality show, further cementing their rising status. Driven by ska and reggae’s messages of love and unity, The Owls’ music reflects on current political parallels with the original 2 Tone movement. Their first original release, the Double A-Side single ‘Two Tone Summer’ and ‘Skandal’, offers infectious and politically aware pop songs, set for release on August 10th by Parliament Records in limited edition 7” vinyl and digital formats.

Currently on their “Two Tone Summer” tour, The Owls are also crafting their debut album, expected in early 2025. With their explosive performances and thoughtful songwriting, The Owls continue to soar, spreading their message of unity and love through music.
