Los Angeles-based alternative rock band Second Language has just released an electrifying new remix of their track ‘Swing Time.’ Known for its eclectic blend of post-punk and new-wave influences, Second Language was formed in 1981 and quickly gained a loyal following. The band’s career has been marked by notable achievements, including their EP ‘Souvenirs,’ extensive national college radio airplay, and opening for acts like Love & Rockets and Blancmange. The fresh remix of ‘Swing Time’ breathes new life into the track, capturing the essence of the band’s vibrant sound and delivering an upbeat, rhythmic experience that resonates with both longtime fans and new listeners.
Reflecting on the project, the band shares, “We wrote ‘Swing Time’ in 1988 about a romantic relationship gone wrong. This version was recorded in 1992 for our album ‘WrongSpeak,’ which was released in 1996. It was remixed in 2024 in Dolby Atmos by Michael James for a single release. The new remix breathes fresh life into the song, hopefully making it resonate with both longtime fans and new listeners.”
Since their formation, Second Language has remained a pillar of the Los Angeles music scene. Their discography includes the 1984 ‘Souvenirs’ EP, the 1985 album ‘Youth Is Not For Pleasure,’ and numerous other releases, with a new album titled ‘Never A Plan’ in the works. Jessie Jacobson has been a driving force behind the band’s evolution. Their collaborations with top producers and their ability to continually produce compelling music have solidified their place in the alternative rock genre. The latest remix of ‘Swing Time’ continues this legacy, showcasing the band’s enduring creativity and musical innovation.
