Singer-Songwriter Justin Kawika Young finds the joy in the healing process on new single ‘Waterfall’

Singer-songwriter Justin Kawika Young, whose creative talents were honed both as a chart-topping performer on the islands of Hawai’i as well as in Nashville as a member of Colbie Caillat’s band and as a co-founder of their hit collective Gone West, is sharing a new song, “Waterfall,” which is included in the release of a sublime solo album, Back To The Blue. Filled with heartbreaking ballads as well as uplifting folk pop, the album takes the listener on Young’s journey from heartache and loss to his current state—that of a self-realised soul and solo artist. ‘Waterfall‘, produced by Young and Dan Edinberg and written with Lindsey Lee Taylor, is irrepressibly upbeat and resonates with a joyously cathartic chorus. Back To The Blue will be released digitally on April 29.

Justin notes: “I had the concept for the song (“someday these tears will be water under the bridge”) for years, but it never seemed to apply to anything personally – until it did! I was going through a break up and brought the song idea to a zoom writing session with Lindsey Lee Taylor. We hit it off right away and she took the idea and immediately had melodies flowing. The song really has an important message to me, which is that of course time truly will heal you- but until then, sometimes you have to be okay sitting with the shitty feelings as they rise and fall within you. At its core, it’s really about just accepting what is.”
