Singer songwriter Sophia Scott knows that ‘All’s Fair’ with her angsty post-relationship anthem

OUT NOW – Listen Here

Aussie singer-songwriter Sophia Scott‘s latest single, ‘All’s Fair‘, initially began as a piano ballad but evolved into an upbeat, bold track during the demo stage, transforming its melancholic roots into a more brazen expression. Sophia wanted the intro guitar riff to have a bassy, addictive quality and kept the production warm, blending modern indie with her favorite 80s pop-rock elements, including synths. The 80s-inspired sounds and the chorus’s opening lyric, “I thought we were working it out but you made your own bed when you both lay down”, inspired the Jazzercise workout cover art, which captures the song’s cheeky and bold nature. The hook, “All is fair in love and war doesn’t mean you had to leave it all at my door”, reflects the angst of post-relationship realities, where moving on doesn’t necessarily mean wanting to witness the other’s new engagements. Produced by Elliot Cox and James See at Airlock Studios in Camp Mountain, Queensland, owned by former Powderfinger member Ian Haug, ‘All’s Fair’ is a narrative-driven track that encapsulates the complexities of moving on.

Hailing from Queensland’s River City, Brisbane, Sophia Scott is an independent solo artist who has quickly established herself as a powerful force in the indie-pop-rock scene. Her music, a heartfelt blend of rock and pop, reflects the influence of iconic songwriters such as Blondie, Alanis Morissette, and Joni Mitchell. Sophia began her songwriting journey at the age of eight and released her debut single at 19. In 2023, she signed with Interstellar Music agency, and by 21, she had sold out every headline show. In 2024, she supported acts like Royel Otis, DICE, Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers, Pacific Avenue, Boo Seeka, and Harrison Storm. Fresh off a successful South East Queensland tour in April, Sophia is set to announce her upcoming NSW tour in September, preceding the release of her debut six-track EP. Her songwriting talent is evident in her diverse range of songs, from the reflective piano piece ‘Pity Party’ to the fiery rock anthem ‘Fled the Altar’, which won the 2023 Qube Effect Award. Sophia’s artistry also led her to writing and recording sessions in Los Angeles in March 2024, where she made a notable appearance at SXSW 2024.
