Sloane Monroe drops the atmospheric new track ‘Magnetic’

Sloane Monroe’s music is a sonic portrait of the London nightlife scene; the artist has transformed from jazz and soul-influence to an electronic force of power. Arriving in the UK in 2018, she planned to study jazz violin, but she’s since gone on to work with Haydn Bendall, YUNGBLUD and Chinchilla, now channelling her talent into an earworm pop career.

With her brand new track ‘Magnetic’, Sloane brings something special to the plucky, tight synth melodies and rich bass line swells. Immediate, sharp and enticing vocals are a portal into a dichotomy of dark, club-perfect beats and infectious contemporary shine.

The atmosphere pushes and pulls the listener around, with the vocals embodying a jaw-dropping attraction, one filled with poise, elegance and authority. Flipping the switch from an observer to a protagonist, Sloane’s immersion is your immersion, making this track as magnetic for another listen as the title suggests.

Sloane explains in her own words, “I originally wrote this song for solo loop violin when I was 15.  I had an octave pedal that I would plug my violin into so I could sound like a cello, and I would spend hours improvising over the bouncy bass line. I would play it at open mics around London, and people seemed to love it. My friend had a Prophet 5 synthesizer that he let me borrow the other year, and I jokingly started to play that same bass line.

Immediately, I thought, ‘Oh, this is cool as hell. I’ve gotta write some lyrics and make a dance track to this.’  The instrumental was always sexy, seductive, and a bit dark, so I wanted to write a tune that reflected that energy.  I wanted to write a tune that girls could strut down a runway or stumble down the pavement to. I use this tune to remind myself that I’m confident, hot, and powerful. I hope it makes others feel the same way.”
