Soulful Newcomer Isabel Abbott Shares Personal EP ‘Tales’

Isabel Abbott is a Spanish songwriter who is currently based in Birmingham. She recently released her debut EP ‘Tales‘ that dives into the struggles of navigating, love, break-ups and make-ups in your early 20s, and it’s a brilliant listen.

Across four tracks—which she wrote and produced herself—Abbot beautifully sings in both English and Spanish, weaving seamlessly between latin, pop and modern R&B influences.

She delves into each stage of an unraveling relationship, from the reggaeton-inspired opener ‘Pretend’, where her soft vocals depict a love that is fresh and exciting, to ‘Lover’, where she comes to the realisation that she despises the idea of adoration for the same person. On ‘Go Away’, Abbot’s vocals sound powerful as she explores the darker subject of suicide, questioning whether her leaving will make the lives of those around her easier.

Tales’ does well to introduce Isabel Abbott as a creative and poignant songwriter, as she demonstrates her ability to seamlessly blend languages across a range of sultry soundscapes and varied beats.

Describing the EP, Isabel writes: “This EP, as the name ‘Tales’ indicates, is a story of a broken relationship. From a person not being interested enough in you to give you a label, playing games, getting a rebound, feeling heartbroken and finally getting over it”
