Based in the UK capital, four-piece Sterling Press are bringing a 90s twang to modern indie rock. Completing a three-year stint in Liverpool as students, the quartet now returns to their home city to release some fresh music. Embarking on their first headline tour since 2021, and recently supporting STONE in Amsterdam and Brussels, the band are very much on the rise.
Their first single since their debut EP dropped earlier this year, Sterling Press have released ‘London Girls’, a gritty mix of biting vocals, loud guitars and electronic screeching.
The drums keep the movement forward, pushing the strut-like punch of the song alongside a consistent warming bass line. The air of nostalgia with youthful exuberance is endlessly energising. Punk-tinged, and bringing the 2024 pop grit into their writing, ‘London Girls’ is a refreshing gut punch.
The band comments, “Our best mate got a girlfriend from NYC and brought her to our student house in Liverpool. She was way cooler than us and we ended up writing a song about her… before The Dare got big I’d like to add”
