STR^NGE unleash self-titled EP featuring ‘The Length of a Cigarette’

Garnering acclaim from the press and introducing electrifying live performances STR^NGE have risen with a fierce intent since debuting in 2022. Based in Liverpool, they’ve sold out headliners across their home city, unveiling their psychedelic, rock, and indie influences to new audiences.

Formed by Chrissy of The Mysterines alongside James, David and Leon, the group now unveil their self-titled EP.

This project features the roaring alt-rock single ‘The Length of a Cigarette’, a track in which the band explores existential angst with poetic lyricism. The distorted guitars soar through evolving melodies, backing up a vocal that focuses on telling a narrative in a half-sung half-spoken punch out. Occasionally, brutal instrumentals will emerge from underneath, screaming through the mix and unleashing the power of noise. Able to compose a distinctively cinematic sound but holding the gritty edge with both hands, STR^NGE have an uncanny ability to stay unique and furious.

The band explain the track, “‘Cynical all the way through – focussing on the absurdity of life and our complacency while the ridiculous surrounds us. As oil companies dredge up sales, cartels funnel drugs through blood-stained jungles and media companies slap fear-inducing titles on articles they publish for Man to stare wide-eyed in panic at as he sits complicit in it all, ‘The Length of a Cigarette’ is supposed to ask the listener why they should bother at all to be bothered when a lack of clear meaning in their own life is present. Why should the listener care at all about any of these things when, like a cigarette, eventually they’ll end up dead and discarded?”
