Summer Payton shares visuals for R&B gem ‘No Sleep’

Chicago hailing singer-songwriter Summer Payton has unveiled her brand new music video for ‘No Sleep’, taken off her debut album ‘Golden Hour’. Serving up a slice of old-school, the catchy track’s accompanying video is an ode to her musical influences including Brandy and Janet Jackson, as she gives viewers an insight into her creative inspirations.

Summer explains: “I originally produced and wrote a short version of ‘No Sleep’ when I was creating music for my friend, and fellow NYU Alum, Regina Hoyles’s short film, ‘Adullam’. Regina had brought me on to do all of the music for the short, and we shared a sense of connection because we’re both from the South Suburbs of Chicago and she wanted music that felt like home. I even referenced a popular street from our home town in the song. After I finished that project I couldn’t shake my connection to ‘No Sleep’. Probably because of that same sense of home it gives and because I had written the lyrics so based on my own life.”

The R&B/Soul artist is offering up a particularly authentic brand of music that taps into her own personal life experiences. Described as an ‘old soul’ due to her musical influences, her audible influences from Motown and Gospel, as well as classic 90’s R&B, are what make her sound really stand out amongst the rest of the R&B scene today. Staying in her own lane, Summer’s passion for her craft radiates from her new video, and makes us all the more eager to see what she returns with.
