Teacher of the Year’s new EP ‘Dopamine’ is a high-energy, five-song blast of “apartment rock” that takes you back to the early 2000s.
With its raw vocals, catchy hooks, and all-around fun vibe, it feels like the soundtrack to a classic MTV show from that era—loud, rebellious, and full of life. Formed in 2021, Teacher of the Year is made up of Scott, Matt and Euan, who blend their different musical backgrounds into what they have dubbed as the aforementioned “apartment rock.” Their goal? To make music that’s fun and keeps them excited. “We started the band to have fun and be creative, Dopamine is the next step for us, being a little more targeted with our song writing and development of the band” The vocals on Dopamine come with a classic punk edge and the music has that same carefree energy.
Whether it’s the loud guitars, the driving bass-lines, or the driving rhythm, each track brings its own flair but comes together in a cohesive way to make the EP a great listen. The band had a blast making the EP, though it wasn’t all smooth sailing. “The Dopamine EP was a good test of our DIY skills,” Scott says. “I don’t recommend punching out 5 songs in 3 days, but the sonic chaos created is something we are proud of.” They might’ve rushed it, but the end result is on point—a raw, energetic record that’s full of life and personality.
Teacher of the Year delivers a fun, chaotic ride with the new release. Listen to ‘Dopamine’, streaming wherever you listen to music.
