R&B gem Temgazi is Sydney-hailing with Swazi-South African heritage. Her sound has captured attention all over the world, with industry and tastemakers alike sharing praise and encouragement from her days as part of X Factor successes Adira Belle to her now exciting spin into a solo career.
Temgazi’s latest single is ‘Jealous’, with a fantastic vocal performance from fellow charming vocalist Jess Jade. The track starts with a natural feel, the scene set by a rustle in the recording and soft breath before it evolves into an acoustic heart warmer.
Expressive guitar leans into each note, allowing the angelic vocal melodies to harness a subtle rubato feeling, pulling the tempo into an elegant forward momentum. Sparkling additions to the top line and a deep, brooding bass are included so subtly, that they evoke feeling before you notice the note itself.
The vocals rise through harmony, from vulnerable beginning to powerful final moments, as choir-like duets spread over melodies and vocalisations.
“Behind the façade of appearing unphased by the new love of an ex you miss,” Temgazi explains, “are feelings of jealousy and wishing it was you instead. I wanted this song to be a vulnerable confession of an emotion many of us feel but never admit out loud.”
