The Barefoot Bandit unveils dreamy escapism in new pop-reggae single ‘Purple Paradise’

After a summer packed with standout performances at festivals like Glastonbury and Camp Bestival, The Barefoot Bandit returns with “Purple Paradise,” a dreamy blend of pop-reggae, dub, and island vibes featuring Shniece McMenamin. Known for their genre-mixing style, the band brings a refreshing sense of escapism to their expanding catalog, capturing the warmth and relaxation of a tropical retreat.

Inspired by frontman Laurie’s trip to Thailand’s Phi Phi Islands, “Purple Paradise” weaves a tapestry of laid-back melodies and vivid, sun-drenched lyrics. Co-written with Charlene Soraia and produced by Dean Forrest, the track was recorded across CUBE Studios in Cornwall and RAWCUS Studios, and it shines with rich textures and subtle brass accents. Shniece McMenamin’s ethereal harmonies layer beautifully over the band’s relaxed rhythms, adding depth to the track’s warm, inviting vibe.

The band describes “Purple Paradise” as a celebration of stepping away from daily life to reflect and unwind—a feeling evoked perfectly by its lush instrumentation and lyrics. Following their well-received debut album Hello Welcome (2022).

As they gear up for shows in Exeter, Bristol, and Plymouth, “Purple Paradise” is bound to connect with both long-time fans and newcomers. With its chill vibe and universal appeal, this single promises to solidify The Barefoot Bandit’s place in the pop-reggae scene, offering the perfect soundtrack for a moment of escapism.
