Debuting in 2024, The Pedals have garnered recognition for their support slots alongside Toploader and Pentire, as well as notable compliments from The K’s and The Sherlocks. Starting their career in good stead, The Pedals now unveil the vibrant new track ‘Spitting Feathers’.
The track is immediately driven, splitting up the vocal lines and energising riffs, before allowing them to cross paths for a euphoric chorus.
Nostalgic drums, ferocious bass lines, and shimmering guitar overdrive give this a wonderful indie energy. But there are little stabs of arrangement complexity that call you to note the potential that The Pedals have; they’re already writing anthems, but whatever comes next could well take the scene by storm.
The band adds, “’Spitting Feathers’ is about the rollercoaster of being in a messy relationship. The lyrics describe someone who is completely confused about what their partner wants and what they’re even looking for themselves. They keep trying to make things work, even when it feels like they’re losing who they are. The chorus really hits home with that deep need to feel comfortable and safe with someone. In the end, the song’s about realising that, no matter how much you wanted it to work, it’s time to move on.”
